Lobby Day is our chance to take a stand for the future of Texas and for our jobs. It is a critical part of our ongoing fight for economic and social justice for state workers and all Texans. On Wednesday, April 7th, TSEU is calling for a massive show of strength to tell the legislature that we will fight to restore funding for public services, to protect state employee benefits and to win a real across-the-board raise. Everything is at stake: our jobs, our pensions, our health care, our pay and the services we provide. We need you to be there!

Not your ‘usual’ State Employee Lobby Day!
Like many aspects of our lives these days, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we would normally put on Lobby Day. Gone will be the hundreds of union members, family, friends and allies swarming the capitol, pushing our agenda to practically every legislative office and anyone else in between. Gone will be the march and rally which some years reached more than 1000 strong! Gone will be the bus rides from far flung Texas cities and the fried chicken lunch on the capitol lawn. Gone will be the hugs, high-fives, and handshakes and other warm greetings we would have for one another.
But just because we can’t do our ‘normal’ Lobby Day it does not lessen our enthusiasm or our drive to make sure our elected leaders know where we stand on the issues and what they need to do to improve our jobs and the quality of services we are able to provide.
Lobby Day, with a twist! Car caravan parades, press conferences, and a CALL TO ACTION!
Since we all can’t gather together, we will hold local car caravan parades and press Conferences in the following TSEU strongholds:
Houston / Austin / Dallas / San Antonio / The Valley / El Paso
Our goal is to rally hundreds around the State, gather media attention and kickoff an April Lobbying Month!
Don’t live in one of these areas? That’s ok, we’ll have other ways for some of our rural areas to make their presence known on Lobby Day! Getting involved NOW in your area organizing committee is a great way to keep on top of things and to be a part of the planning!
